Rift Event Guide

The Rift Event is a recurring timed event in Steal An Egg that opens Rift portals across the map. Enter a Rift, defeat the Abyss Overlord boss, and earn 1,200 to 1,500 Boss Tokens per clear. Boss Tokens spend in the Boss Shop on boosters and Mutation Consumables. Separately, the Rift Machine in the lobby lets you sacrifice three specific pets to craft a Rift Egg outside of the timed event window.

How Rifts open

Every 30 minutes, Rifts materialize at fixed locations on the Steal An Egg map. A server-wide alert announces the opening. The Rift stays open long enough for players to enter, fight, and loot — but it does not stay permanently.

When a Rift opens:

  1. A portal appears at a known Rift location on the map.
  2. An alert flashes in the HUD.
  3. Walk into the portal to enter the Rift instance.
  4. The Abyss Overlord spawns inside.

If the event UI is missing when you enter, rejoin a newer server. Server transition timing can differ across instances.

How to fight the Abyss Overlord

The Abyss Overlord is a stationary boss that guards the Rift. Defeating it awards Boss Tokens based on performance. The fight loop:

  1. Enter the Rift via the portal.
  2. Dodge the Overlord’s attacks — watch for visual tells before each strike.
  3. Attack when there is an opening — the Overlord cycles between melee swings and area denial.
  4. Defeat the Overlord to trigger the token reward screen.

Bring your best income-generating anime to the fight so the treadmill keeps climbing while you are in the Rift instance. The boss does not drain your plot income during the encounter.

Boss Tokens

Defeating the Abyss Overlord awards 1,200 to 1,500 Boss Tokens per clear. The exact amount varies based on clear time and damage dealt. Tokens accumulate in your inventory and can be spent in the Boss Shop at any time — they do not expire between events.

Boss Shop purchases include:

  • Speed boosts — flat or percentage increases to treadmill output.
  • Mutation Consumables — items that let you re-roll mutations on existing anime.
  • Temporary trails — time-limited speed multipliers.

The shop inventory refreshes with each new Rift cycle. Check it after every clear.

Rift Eggs and the Rift Machine

Rift Eggs contain exclusive pets that do not hatch from regular biome eggs. The pool includes some of the rarest and highest-income anime in the game.

There are two ways to acquire Rift Eggs:

During a Rift event: The Abyss Overlord has a chance to drop a Rift Egg upon defeat. This is the primary acquisition method during the 30-minute event window.

Via the Rift Machine (lobby): The Rift Machine in the main lobby lets you craft a Rift Egg outside of the timed event. The recipe requires:

  • Three specific pet types as sacrifice material.
  • The exact species required changes with each Rift cycle.

Check the Rift Machine prompt after joining to see today’s recipe. If three matching pets are in your collection, the machine will accept them and produce a Rift Egg.

Rift Egg pets

Rift Eggs hatch into exclusive event pets. These anime do not appear in regular biome pools. Some notable Rift-exclusive anime include high-rarity entries worth millions per second. The exact roster changes as new Rift events cycle.

Treat Rift Egg pets as endgame-level investments. Their income-per-second typically exceeds most biome hatches, but acquiring them requires either successful Rift clears or the right sacrifice combination at the Rift Machine.

Rift timing strategy

Rifts open every 30 minutes. The cycle is predictable, which lets you plan around it:

  • Set a personal timer for 25 minutes after each Rift close.
  • Be inside a Rift instance before the 30-minute mark to guarantee entry.
  • If you miss a window, use the Rift Machine as a fallback while waiting for the next cycle.

Connection to other events

The Rift Event is part of the larger update chain that also introduced the Monster Update, Cherry Blossom biome, and recurring Admin Abuse boost events. After clearing a Rift, check the in-game event tab — some cycles overlap with bonus Speed or hatch-rate multipliers.

For progression, pair Rift clears with Speed training so each new Rift zone becomes accessible faster. The tier list and anime tier list show which Rift pets are worth chasing.

Rifts every 30 minutes. Boss Tokens fund the endgame. Rift Eggs are the chase.
